Albert E. Kurianowicz, 84, WWII US Army Veteran
Albert E. Kurianowicz, age 84, of Lorain, died on Saturday, May 08, 2004 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain.Born on October 8, 1919 in California, PA, he moved to Lorain in 1947.
Albert served in the United States Army during World War II and received the American Defense Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, European-African Middle Eastern Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Albert was employed as a steel pourer for US Steel Lorain Works in the BOP Shop Dept. for 36 years, retiring in 1982. He enjoyed stamp collecting, gardening and was an avid baseball and football fan.
Mr. Kurianowicz was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and also a member of the 29th Division Association Limestone Post #72.
He is survived by his sons: Joseph, of Lorain and Edward K. of North Ridgeville; 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; sisters: Mildred Stiles and Lucille Geranis, both of Florida.
Albert was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years: Ivy (nee Jones); parents: Ignatius and Mary (nee Durstin) Kurianowicz; sons: Rodger K. in 1987 and Michael K. in 1964; and brothers: Leon, Elmer and Joseph.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 14, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held on Saturday, 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a 10:00 a.m. mass at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Charles Henkle, OFM. Conv., associate pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, where the Disabled American Veterans will conduct full military honors.
