Mary P. Strong, 89, Enjoyed Bowling

Photo of Mary P. Strong Mary P. Strong, (nee Papp), age 89, of Lorain, died on Thursday, May 12, 2004 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.

Born on September 9, 1914 in Satmar Megye, Hungary, she moved to Lorain in 1933.

Mary was employed as an assembler for General Industries in Elyria for 15 years until retiring in 1960.

She was a member of St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, Lorain, The Virgin Mary Society and St. Ann's Auxiliary #287 of the Knights of St. John of the church and a member of the 50+ Club. She enjoyed bowling at Rebman's Recreation, Lorain and Shoreway Lanes, Vermilion.

She is survived by her sons: Andrew Jr., of Holyoke, MA, CT, Robert of Peyton, CO, daughter: Reg Strong, of Brockton, MA, 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson and 1 brother: William Papp, of Lorain.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years: Andrew in 1994, parents: Michael and Regina (nee Geng) Papp and sister: Margaret George in 1993.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 16, 2004 from 2-4 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where a rosary service will be conducted at 3:35 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 a.m. mass at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Thomas Smith, pastor of St. John Roman Catholic Church, Lorain, will officiate. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Mausoleum Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
