Joseph Franklin Romes, 32, Desert Storm Navy Veteran

Joseph Franklin Romes, age 32, a lifelong resident of Avon Lake, passed away suddenly at St. John West Shore Hospital, Westlake.

Mr. Romes was born November 2, 1971 in Cleveland.

Joseph worked as a Fiber optics Specialist for South Shore Cable Construction Company and had previously worked for XO Communications as an outside plant engineer. He was a Desert Storm Navy Veteran, serving from 1991 to 1995. He was a graduate of Avon Lake High School and had attended Cleveland State University. Mr. Romes was an avid Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeye Football fan.

He is survived by his wife: Jennifer A. (nee Griffiths), whom he married October 24, 1998. Other survivors include daughter: Samantha R. Romes and Griffin M. Romes, both at home; his parents: Franklin J. and Joanne (nee Burris) Romes; sisters: Debbie (Kevin) Lynch of Quincy, MA, Carol (Matt) Turner of Medina; Chantal (Ron) Monet of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Stephanie (Scott) Waltjen of Avon Lake, Diane (Rick) Scheutzow of Brunswick, and Margaret Ortiz of Cleveland; brother: Franklin (Jennie) Romes of Brunswick; and his maternal grandmother: Forest Burris.

Preceding him in death was his sister: Jennie Romes; and nephew: William Quickle.

Friends may call the Busch-Bermeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Road, in Avon Lake on Wednesday and Thursday evening from 6-9 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, May 21st at Calvary Baptist Church, 32607 Electric Blvd., in Avon Lake at 1:30 p.m. Rev. David Skelton of the church and Rev. William Goodrich will officiate. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memory Garden. Cremation by Busch Crematory. Memorial Contributions may be forwarded to a fund set up in Samantha and Griffin's names at any Fifth/Third Bank.
