Robert G. Sandak, 66, US Army Veteran

He was born November 8, 1937 in Lorain, OH and had lived most of his life in Vermilion.
Mr. Sandak was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a Stationary Engineer for Cleveland Electric Illuminating Co. for 23 years retiring in Dec. of 1993.
He was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational, Vermilion, Ely Lodge # 424 Vermilion, Scottish Rite Valley of Cleveland, Lorain County Scottish Rite, and the P.B. Morgan Chapter.
Survivors include his wife of 5 years: Frances (nee Bowers); sister: Patricia Thayer of Vermilion; 3 stepchildren: Theresa Whitman, of Amherst, Kimberly Potter, of Silverdale, Washington, and Kenneth Gilbert, of Elyria; 8 step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his father: Michael F. Sandak in 1973; his mother: Velma E. Sandak (nee Welch) in 2000; and his brother: David Sandak, Sr. in 2001.
Friends may call Thursday, May 20, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Ely Lodge #424 will conduct Masonic Services at 7 p.m. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Funeral Home. The Reverend Wendell Brooker, pastor of the United Church of Christ, will officiate. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military graveside services.
