Curtis R. Evans, 50, Electrician

Photo of Curtis R. Evans Curtis R. Evans, age 50, Amherst, died on Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at Western Reserve Hospice House in Cleveland, following a lengthy illness.

Born on September 18, 1953 in Lorain, he has lived here his entire life.

He was a 1972 graduate of Admiral King High School. He also graduated from Lorain Community College. Curtis attended Kent State University where he was a member of Kappa Kappa Psi Fraternity.

He was employed as an electrician for the Ford Motor Company for over 26 years.
He attended Amherst Church of the Nazarene and First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lorain. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 425. He served as an EMT for Ford Motor and was a foster parent for 6 years.

He enjoyed hiking, backpacking, camping and playing the trombone. He was a devoted husband and father and noted for his extreme kindness.

He is survived by his wife: Julia (nee Frye), 2 sons: Curtis Jr., of Amherst and Curtis Justice Jr., "CJ" of Amherst, daughters: Justina "Marie" Evans and Elizabeth Betsy Evans, both of Amherst, parents: Thomas R. and Betty (nee Ames) Evans, of Lorain, 1 brother: Tom Evans, of Florida, 2 sisters: Lynette Evans of Avon Lake and Bettina "Tina" Evans-Pinter, of Cleveland.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Ormond and Marie (nee Egli) Evans and maternal grandparents: Sherman and Nora (nee Shaffer) Ames and an aunt Nora Ames Ricci.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 23, 2004, from 1:00 until the time of memorial services at 3:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. Rev. Jimmy Madsen, pastor of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lorain, and Rev. Richard Henry Jr., pastor of Amherst Church of the Nazarene, will officiate.
