John E. Glass, 79, Enjoyed his grandchildren and camping

John "Jack" E. Glass, 79, of Sheffield Township, died Monday, May 24, 2004 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.

Born on March 5, 1925 in Keyser, West Virginia, he moved to Lorain in the early 1950's. He served in the United States Navy. He was employed as a pipefitter at American Ship Building Company, Lorain, retiring in 1984 after 25 years there. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign War Post #451, Lorain, Polish American Citizens Club, Russo Slavo Club, and American Slovak Club, all of Lorain, Amherst Eagles Club, Knights of St. John and Boilermaker-Blacksmith Union. John enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and camping.

He is survived by his 5 step-sons: Herbert Zielke, of Sheffield Township, Dale Kuzak, of Elyria, Frank Kuzak, of Boyton Beach, Florida, Gary Kuzak and Joseph Kuzak, both of Sheffield Township, 2 step-daughters: Marcia Woods and Patrice Pabon, both of Sheffield Township, 21 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren and 1 brother, Thomas Glass, of West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy A. Glass (nee Ledyard) on January 20, 2004, parents, Arthur Thomas and Ella (nee Warnick) Glass and brothers, Jim Glass and Chuck Glass.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Mark Lantz, pastor of Broadway Assembly Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria, Ohio. The Veterans of Foreign War Post #451 will conduct full military honors.
