Stanley "Mike" Ciula, 76, WWII Army Veteran

Stanley “Mike” Ciula, 76, of Lorain, died Friday, May 28, 2004 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain after a short illness.

He was born March 14, 1928 in Lorain and had been a lifelong resident of the Lorain area.

Mr. Ciula was a 1945 graduate of Lorain High School. He served with the US Army during WWII and received the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal.

Stanley was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and VFW Post #451, all of Lorain.

For many years, Mr. Ciula provided the Lorain weather update for Dick Goddard at Fox 8 News.

He is survived by his brothers: Gerald “Jerry” Ciula of Gahanna, and Richard Ciula of San Bernadino, California; companion: Ann Zuffa of Lorain; brother-in-law: Ted Piskur of Lorain; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death was his wife: Ernestine Ciula (nee Piskur) in 1996; and his parents: Stanley and Helen (nee Duskey) Ciula.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel; 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. A funeral mass will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church; 2428 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The Rev. David Novak, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where VFW Post #451 will conduct military honors.
