Carmen M. Cepeda, 77, Volunteer cook at Sacred Heart Chapel

Carmen M. Cepeda, 77, of Lorain died Wednesday, June 02, 2004 in her home following a short illness.

She was born November 20, 1926 in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. She moved to Hoboken, New Jersey in 1952. She came to Lorain in 1989 from Bronx, New York, NY.

She was employed as a seamstress in Brooklyn and Manhattan, New York.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, where she was a regular cook volunteer. She was very generous with her time and possessions. She was always willing to help her family and friends.

Among the survivors are her sons Gerardo Cruz of Lorain and Angelo Cruz of New York, New York; daughters Carmen Ortiz and Maria Cruz Lopez both of Lorain; Brother Alfredo Cepeda of Vega Baja, Puerto Rico and Maria Fernandez of Rio Grande, Puerto Rico; 17 Grandchildren, 38 Great Grandchildren and two Great Great Grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents Evangelista and Aleandra (nee Arsa) Cepeda; Daughters Gloria Cruz and Felicita Fernandez.

Friends may call Friday 4:00 to 8:00 PM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, Ohio.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 5th, 2004 with closing prayers at the funeral home at 8:45 AM followed by Mass of the Resurrection at 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, South Lorain. Reverend, Father James Ols, Pastor of Saint Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, Elyria Township will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
