Stephan L. Bires, 75, US Paratrooper, enjoyed golf and fishing
Stephan L. Bires, 75, of Lorain, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky after a long illness.He was born September 22, 1928 in Lorain and had resided in Lorain most of his life before retiring to Atlanta, Georgia.
Mr. Bires was a graduate of Lorain High School in 1946 and then served with the US Army from 1946 to 1948 as a paratrooper.
Mr. Bires worked as a self-employed real estate appraiser.
He was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Lorain and the Lorain Elks Lodge. He enjoyed flying, boating, golf, and fishing.
He is survived by his daughter Stephanie Micsak and her husband Robert of Littleton, Colorado, sons Dean Bires and his wife Melissa of Loganville, Georgia and Paul Bires and his wife Kirsten of Lorain, grandsons Bobby Micsak, Chris Micsak, Alex Bires, Jason Bires, Tyler Bires, and Zach Bires. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Bires (nee Angelos), parents George and Anna Bires (nee Belan), brother George Bires and sisters Mary Callahan and Anna Aldrich.
Friends may call Monday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 2000 Tower Blvd., Lorain. The Rev. Michael Gulgas, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
