Rafael Castro Gonzales, 87, Enjoyed Spending Time with His Children & Grandchildren
Rafael Castro Gonzales, age 87, of Lorain, died Thursday, June 03, 2004 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain, following a brief illness.Born September 16, 1916 in Caguas, Puerto Rico, he came to Lorain in 1952 and has lived here since.
He worked in the engine plant of Ford Motor Co., Brookpark, Ohio, retiring in 1979 after 28 years. He was a member Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain, and the United Auto Workers Union Local 1250, Brookpark, Ohio. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, gardening and listening to Spanish folk music.
Surviving is his wife of 50 years, Librada (nee Fonseca), sons, Rafael Gonzales Jr., Michael Gonzales, Nelson Castro, and Jaime Gonzales, all of Lorain, daughters, Luz C. Gonzales, and Carmen D. Jacinto, both of Lorain, 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, Rafael Castro and Julia (nee Gonzales) Castro, and 4 brothers.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 6, 2004 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where funeral services will be Monday at 8:45 a.m. followed by mass at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. James P. Schmitz, pastor of St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
