Sandra J. Bobek, 59, Cosmetic Therapist
Sandra J. Bobek, (nee Oleksa) age 59, of Lorain, died Thursday, June 3, 2004 in the critical care unit of Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center following an illness of eighteen months.Mrs. Bobek was born September 8, 1944 in Lorain and had been a life-long resident of the area.
She was a 1962 Clearview High School graduate and went on to attend Lorain Business School. She later graduated from the Ohio School of Electrolysis in Akron. For the past twenty years, she had been self-employed as a cosmetic therapist throughout the area. She had previously been employed as a keypunch operator for such business entities as the Cleveland Trust Bank, the Ford Motor Company, American Shipbuilding Company and York International.
Her interests include travel, casino trips, and reading with a special interest in romance novels. She was also an accomplished cook whose specialties included chicken paprikas and other dishes representing her Hungarian decent.
She is survived by her husband of thirty-nine years: Donald Don F. Bobek, daughters: Sherri Bennett of Amherst, and Lisa Combs of Ashtabula, four grandchildren, and brothers: Jerald Oleksa of Elyria and John Oleksa of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Elizabeth (nee Mandoke) Oleksa, and by a brother: Richard Oleksa.
Visitation will be Friday, June 04, 2004, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by her funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in the Catholic Church of Saint Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
