Carmelo Gautier Rivera, 89, of Lorain, died Friday, June 04, 2004 in Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center, Lorain following a brief illness.He was born March 17, 1915 in Canovanas, Puerto Rico in 1948 He moved to Bronx, New York. He then relocated to Youngstown in 1952 and in 1977 to Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. He came to Lorain in 2001.
Mr. Gautier Rivera retired from L. T. V. Steel Co. in Youngstown in 1977. He worked there for 25 years. While in the Bronx he worked for a laundry.
He was a member of Candelario de Oro Pentecostal Church in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. He was also a member of the United Steel Workers of America Local 1011 of Youngstown. He enjoyed reading, watching videos and baseball.
Among the survivors are his daughters Miriam Gonzalez of Lorain and Carmen Gautier of New Britain, Connecticut; brother Herman Gautier Rivera of Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, 9 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years Altagracia Gautier in 1987 and a daughter Georgina Rosario in March of this year, brothers Felix and Luis Majin Gautier Rivera and a sister Maria Gautier Rivera.
Friends may call Sunday 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, Ohio.
Funeral service will be Monday. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township, Ohio.
