Dino A. Pietromica, 69, Enjoyed his work, grandkids, and horse races
Dino A. Pietromica, 69, of Avon Lake, died Saturday, June 5, 2004 after suffering an apparent heart attack while attending horse races at Thistledown Race Track in Northfield.He was born June 10, 1934 in Lorain and had resided in Avon Lake since 1978 moving from Lorain.
Mr. Pietromica graduated from Lorain High School with the class of 1952B and then worked at US Steel in Lorain for 8 months before enlisting in the US Marine Corps where he served from 1953-1956 attaining the rank of sergeant. After he was discharged from the service he attended Cooper Design and Drafting School in Cleveland for two years and upon graduating worked for various glass glazing companies. He became owner and president of his own glass glazing company, the Edward R. Flynn Co., in Cleveland for the past 30 years.
Mr. Pietromica was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Avon Lake and a past member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain. He enjoyed working at his company, his grandchildren, horse racing and gambling.
He is survived by his wife of 9 years Linda Anne (nee Gregory) sons, Dino Pietromica and his wife Terry of Cleveland and David Pietromica and his wife Katrina of Lakewood; stepdaughter Michelle Yasher of Avon Lake, grandchildren Dino Pietromica and Gabrielle Pietromica, both of Cleveland and Own Pietromica of Lakewood, sisters Mary Blazina and her husband Joseph both of Lorain and Joan Hansen and her husband Chris of Phoenix, Arizona, brothers Tony Pietromica and his wife Pam of North Olmsted and Rudy Pietromica and his wife Rose of Vermilion, several nieces and nephews, step mother-in-law Anne Gregory and step brother-in-laws Pat Gregory and his wife Doreen, Scott Gregory and his wife Ann and Keith Gregory. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 34 years Alice (nee Frye) in 1993 and parents John and Almontina (nee Mercurio) Pietromica.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 8, 2004 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at the Catholic Church f St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. The Rev. David Woost, associate pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where the Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter #20 of Lorain will conduct military honors.
