Darlene C. Berrington, 68, Active in 4-H, enjoyed time with her family
Darlene Carol Berrington (nee Pippert), 68 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Monday, June 7, 2004 at New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain following a lengthy illness.She was born July 31, 1935 in Amherst. She was a graduate of the old Central High School in Amherst with the class of 1953. She has been a lifetime resident of Amherst.
Darlene was employed as a manager by the AAA Travel Agency in Elyria, retiring in 1993. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Amherst and was active in the Lorain County 4-H. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her family.
Survivors include her mother Velma Pippert (nee Draga) of Amherst, her daughters Lynn Jiovanazzo and Terri Mlinarik, both of Amherst, Cathy Burgei of Ottawa, Ohio, and Lori Gingrich of Gibsonburg, Ohio, ten grandchildren, and her brother Richard Pippert of Amherst.
She was preceded in death by her father Carl Pippert in 1961.
Friends may call Tuesday, June 8, 2004 from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Gary Bernath, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Amherst, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 115 Central Dr., Amherst, Ohio 44001 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
