John Strange, 85, He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church

Photo of John Strange John " Jack" Strange, 85 of Lorain died on Thursday, June 10, 2004, at New Life Hospice Center at St. Joseph in Lorain, OH following a short illness.

Mr. Strange was born on August 27, 1918, in Port Glasgow, Scotland and immigrated to the US in 1926.

He lived the remainder of his life in Lorain. He graduated from Lorain High School in the 1937-B class. He was a US Army veteran, serving in Patton's 87th Infantry Division during WW II. He received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.

He was a machine shop foreman with USS/Kobe Steel retiring in 1980. He
was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was a volunteer at Community
Hospital for 27 years, held numerous offices in the Amvets; he was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was the
secretary for the senior bowling league and was an active member of the Lorain
Senior Fellowship.

His wife of 56 years Isabelle "Belle" (nee Nagy) Strange, and two nephews survived Mr. Strange.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Linda Strange in 1986, parents
Alexander and Jessie (nee Ballingall) Strange, and his sister Helen Strange
Thuemling.

Friends may call at Schwartz Spence Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124
W. 5th Street, Lorain, OH, on Sunday, June 13, 2004, from 2:00 until
service time at 3:30 pm.

John Strange will be buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain, OH, privately.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 43099 North Ridge Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035.
