Vera M. Reber, 91, Longtime area resident

Vera M. Reber (nee Balcik), 91, of Lorain, died Monday June 14, 2004 in the intensive care unit at Community Health Partners Hospital in Lorain after a long illness.

She was born September 12, 1912 in Slovakia and attended school in Brier Hill, Pennsylvania. She had resided in Lorain since 1929.

Mrs. Reber was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain where she was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society and Ladies Guild. She was a member of St. Ann Lodge # 114 of the Fraternal Catholic Slovak Ladies Union.

She is survived by her sons: Larry Reber and Dennis Reber; both of Lorain; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sisters: Dorothy Kulcsar of Lorain and Marye O'Neil of Smyrna, Delaware and brother Andrew Balcik of Parma.

She was preceded in death by ha husband: Peter Reber in 1982; son: Keith Reber in 1995; parents Michael and Veronica (nee Kallok) Balcik; a sister: Margaret Balcik; and brothers: Steve Balcik, Frank Balcik, Michael Balcik and John Balak

The family will receive friends Thursday 2- 9p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel; 3224 Broadway Ave.; Lorain where the Holy Trinity Ladies Guild, Altar & Rosary Society and St. Ann Lodge #114 will pray the rosary Thursday at 3 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by a funeral mass at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church; 2428 Elyria Ave.; Lorain.

The Rev. Leonard Bacik; pastor of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Middleburgh Heights; will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
