Carl Frederick Bramhall, 85, He enjoyed golfing and playing pool.
Carl Frederick Bramhall, 85 years of age, and a resident of Lorain passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at Denise’s Adult Care Facility in Lorain following a lengthy illness.He was born June 1, 1919 in Wheeling, West Virginia, where he was raised. He came to Ohio around age 15. He moved to Avon in 1938, to Avon Lake in 1966, and then to Amherst in 1978. Lorain has been his home for the last four years.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He received the American Theater Ribbon, The Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, the World War Two Victory Medal, and the Meritorious Unit Award. Carl was employed by CEI in Cleveland for 38 years, retiring in 1984 as a heavy equipment operator. He was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Avon, and the Father Regan Council Chapter #3269. He was also a charter member, since 1981, of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Post #7035 in Avon, and the St./ Joseph’s Catholic Church in Amherst, where he was involved with the Men’s Club. He enjoyed golfing and playing pool.
Survivors include his son Richard James Bramhall of Avon; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and his sister Lois Reese of Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Margaret Elizabeth Peg Bramhall (nee Holbury) on December 9, 2001, and by his parents Raymond and Susan Bramhall (nee Curtis).
Friends may call Thursday from 9:30 a.m. To 10:30 a.m. At the Hempal Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. From St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Rd., Amherst/ The Rev, Fr. Lawrence Martello, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be hels in St. Mary’d Catholic Cemetery, Avon.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund, 200 St. Joseph Dr., Amherst 44001
