Roberta Ruth Leatherwood, 77, Enjoyed her grandchildren and bird watchching
Roberta Ruth Leatherwood (nee Hardesty) age 77, of Lorain, died Tuesday June 15, 2004 at her home after a long illness.She was born March 27, 1927 in Monessen, Pennsylvania and had resided in the Lorain area for the past 55 years.
She graduated from Oakland High School in Mountain Lake Park, Maryland and then worked as a secretary at the Pentagon during World War 11. While living in Lorain she worked at the Gaylords Department Store as a cashier for 13 years. She enjoyed visiting her grandchildren and bird watching.
She is survived by her daughters: Marsha Casselman and Deborah Carter, both of Lorain; a son, Gary Leatherwood of Lorain; a sister: Freda McCabe of Bridgeville, Pennsylvania and 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son: David Leatherwood; grandson: Dustin Caner; parents: Leslie and Coca (nee Feather) Hardesty; a sister Dorothy Davis; and brothers: Frank Hardesty, Joseph Hardesty and Earl Stocken.
The family will receive friends Thursday 2-4; 7-9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shirno-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. John Adams will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
