Kenneth Edward Jamison, 79, Enjoyed golfing and traveling
Kenneth Edward Jamison, age 79, of Avon Lake, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at his daughter’s home.He was born June 14, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan and moved to Avon Lake from Bay Village seventeen years ago.
At the age of 18, Kenneth joined the Army and served during WWII as an infantry squad leader in France, Germany, and Austria. He received the silver and bronze star for bravery in France and Germany and also received a purple heart.
Mr. Jamison attended Hillsdale College, Hillsdale, Michigan, and the University of Detroit, where he earned his degree in mechanical engineering. He was employed by the Westinghouse for 43 years and was the district manager in Cleveland for 17 years.
Kenneth was a member of Lakewood Country Club, American Legion Post 211, Avon Lake; and the Cleveland Rotary Club, and was active in Boy Scouts, little league baseball, and the Indians Guides. He was an elder at Bay Presbyterian Church, Bay Village. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, family, and traveling.
Mr. Jamison is survived by two sons: David (Kippy) of Cincinnati and Mark (Kim) of San Francisco; a daughter: Patricia (John) Maynard of Avon Lake; ten grandchildren: Lauren, David, John, Paul, Amanda, Julie, Kelsie, Melanie, McKenna, an Alexa; and a brother: Howard Jamison of Albuquerque, NM.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years: Marion (nee Mick) in December of 2003; a daughter: Nancy Hawkins; a sister: Florence Coy; and his parents: Charles and Clara Jamison.
A memorial service will be held at Bay Presbyterian Church; 25415 Lake Road, Bay Village on Saturday, June 19 at 1 p.m. Pastor Hubert Auburn will officiate. Cremation handled by Busch Crematory. Private interment will take place at Lakewood Park Cemetery, Rocky River.
