Mary Gdula, 78, Enjoyed cooking family meals, traveling, reading and gardening

She was born July 6, 1925 in Lorain. She lived in Sheffield Township for 55 years before moving to Lorain last year.
She was a homemaker. During World War II, she worked for Lorain-Cuyahoga Works of U. S. Steel, Lorain.
Mrs. Gdula was a member of Saints Cyril and Methodius Orthodox Church, Lorain, where she was a member and a past president of the Protection of The Theotokos Sisterhood. Mrs. Gdula was an active member of the church often cooking for fundraising events. She was named mother of the year. She enjoyed cooking family meals, traveling, reading, gardening and taking care of her great grandchildren.
Among the survivors is her son Stephen Gdula of Sheffield Township; daughters Mary Ann Kobylka and Kathryn Mc Nary both of Lorain and Diane Firth of Elyria Township, five Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren. A bother and a sister also predeceased her.
Preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Steve Gdula in 2002, a son Daniel Gdula in 1988, and three brothers.
Friends may call Monday 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, Ohio, where a Parastas prayer service will be Monday evening at 7:30 PM.
Friends may also call Tuesday at 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM in Saints Cyril and Methodius Orthodox Church, Reeves Avenue and Meister Road, Lorain. The Reverend Paul G. Monkowski, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
