Mary Matos, 91, She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain.
Mary Matos (nee Fundak), 91, of Lorain died Sunday June 20, 2004 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain after a lengthy illness.She was born December 16, 1912 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Mrs. Matos was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain, the church Marian Guild and Senior Sociables, Slovenian Women’s Lodge #40 and AMLA Lodge #21.
She is survived by her daughters Doris Yurovich and Marilyn Mercurio, both of Lorain, Ellen Michie of Scottsdale, Arizona; sons Richard Matos and Joseph Matos, both of Lorain; 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, brothers John Fundak of Lorain, and George Fundak of Elyria, Joseph Fundak of Quincy, Illinois, and Frank Fundak of Grafton; sisters Ann Gidyez of Athens and Merge Versace of Euclid. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Matos in 1991, granddaughter Lisa Mercurio of Medina in 1990, and brother Paul Sifter.
The family will receive friends Wednesday 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 8:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by a funeral mass at 9:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 E. Erie Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Chuck Henkle, associate pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
