Donald A. Brazina, 74, U.S. Marine Veteran
Donald A. Brazina, age 74, of Myerstown, Pennsylvania and formerly of Lorain, died Monday, June 28, 2004 at his residence following an extended illness.Mr. Brazina was born January 11, 1930 in Lorain, and had been a resident of Pennsylvania since 1938 coming from Mount Holly, New Jersey.
Following his completion of high school, he attended The Ohio State University as well as a religious seminary in metropolitan Detroit.
Donald was a Marine Corps veteran serving as a Corporal during the Korean Conflict. He was the recipient of the Navy Occupation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service medal, the United Nations Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.
He was most recently employed as an office worker for the Exide Corporation based in Reading, Pennsylvania; he retired in 1997 following eighteen years of service with the company.
Mr. Brazina was a former parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain; he enjoyed owning and raising Palomino horses.
Don is survived by his wife of twenty years: Margaret F. Brazina (nee Flitcraft); a son: William M. Semock of North Ridgeville, Ohio; daughters: Theresa Austin of Cleveland, and Cheryl Ann Hochevar of Strongsville, Ohio; a sister: Jacquelyn Gallo of Vermilion; six grandchildren, and one great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Elizabeth "Lee (nee Sandor) Brazina; and by a brother: Eugene.
Family funeral services were held Friday in Holy Trinity Catholic Church with the Reverend David Novak, pastor of Holy Trinity parish presiding. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain where military honors were conducted by officers and members of Mullen-Murray Post #451 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
