Lawrence W. Gregory, 68, Enjoyed gardening, cooking, and family picnics

Lawrence W. “Larry” Gregory, 68, of Lorain, died Monday June 28, 2004 at University Hospital in Cleveland after a brief illness.

He was born October 13, 1935 in Port Huron, Michigan and had resided in Sheffield Township/Lorain area most of his life.

Ms. Gregory graduated from Rocky River High School in 1953 and served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He worked as an independent carpet layer for over 25 years, and at Avon Oaks Country Club in Avon as a grounds keeper. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, and family picnics.

He is survived by his sons: Thomas F. Gregory of Vermillion, Joseph C. Gregory of Avon, and Mark E. Gregory of Avon Lake; his companion of 18 years Juanita Balogh of Lorain; sisters: Barbara Bissland of Willmington, New Jersey and Shirley Chihil of Burea, brother Charles Gregory of Brook Park and 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son Robert W. Gregory in 1982, and parents Fred and Ida Gregory (nee Johnson).

The family will receive friends Thursday 3-8 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. Cremation will follow.
