Isabel Maria Soto, 81, Enjoyed dancing, singing and traveling
Isabel Maria Soto (nee Lopez) 81 of Lorain died Thursday, July 1, 2004 in New Life Hospice Center of Saint Joseph, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.She was born August 7, 1922 in Lares, Puerto Rico. She was a Lorain resident for 54 years coming here in 1950.
Isabel received her teaching degree from Universidad de Puerto Rico and for 7 years taught elementary education there.
Mrs. Soto retired in 1984 from Avon Oaks Nursing Home as a Nursing Assistant. She worked there for 17 years. Her residents and co-workers loved her.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel Lorain where she was part of the Charismatic Movement. Mrs. Soto enjoyed dancing, singing, traveling, knitting and helping others.
Among the survivors is her husband of 54 years: Juan Nicholas Soto of Lorain; son: Henry Soto of Lorain, and step-son: Juan "Johnny" N. Soto, Jr. of Amherst; brothers: Benardo Lopez of Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Feliberto Lopez of Ponce, Puerto Rico and Luis Lopez of Lares, Puerto Rico; sisters: Emilia Callazo (nee Lopez) of Caguas, Puerto Rico, Ana Hilda Lopez of Phoenix, Arizona, Crimilda Ortiz (nee Lopez) of Las Piedras, Puerto Rico and Aurea Lopez of Saint Peter, Florida; eight Grandchildren; Nieces, Nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Manuel and Ruperta (nee Martinez) Lopez; son Orlando Soto; brothers: Salvador and Manuel Lopez, Jr. and a sister: Carmen Lopez Gonzalez.
Friends may call Monday 4-8 p.m. at the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, Ohio.
Funeral services will be Tuesday with closing prayers at the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. followed by Mass of the Resurrection at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, South Lorain. Reverend, Father William A. Thaden, Pastor will officiate.
Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
