Sarah Christine Box, 75, Loved baby sitting her grandchildren

She was born July 13, 1928 in Lorain where she was raised. She had been a resident of Sheffield Township and Sheffield Lake since 1962.

In addition to being a homemaker, she was a member of North Olmsted Assembly of God Church and attended Fellowship Baptist Church in Lorain. She loved baby sitting her grandchildren, reading her Bible, cooking, canning, traveling to family and school reunions with her husband, shopping, garage sales, Pioneer Days, and the Lorain County Fair.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years: Perry Jackson Box; her sons: Del “Buster” Sharpless of Westin, WV, Allen Box of North Carolina, but currently serving in Iraq, Mark Box of Lorain; Perry J. Box, Jr. of Elyria, and David Box of Westlake; daughters: Della Bombac of Lorain, Jackie Hollars of Marion, Indiana, and Sarah Jane Werczynski of Newark, Ohio; 22 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and sisters: Cleo Vanderpool and Corene Kiser, both of Lorain, and LaVone Kimble of Florida.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents: James and Cora (nee Meichur) Bryant; 3 grandchildren; her brother: John Bryant; sisters: Margie Williams, Lorene Box, and a sister in infancy; and by her daughter-in-law Anna Sharpless (nee Kenney).

Friends may call Wednesday from 204 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Jack Ison, pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church in Lorain, will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Garden, Avon.
