Minerva Marie Ernst, 83, Enjoyed doing yard work

Minerva Marie Ernst (nee Bogdan), age 83, of Sheffield Village, passed away Saturday July 10, 2004 at St. John West Shore Hospital, Westlake following a sudden illness.

She was born March 29, 1921 in Lorain and lived in Sheffield Village most of her life. She was a graduate of Lorain High School and served as a W.A.V.E. specialist in the Navy from 1944-1946. Minerva was employed as a cafeteria worker for Sheffield and Sheffield Lake Schools at Brookside High School before retiring. She enjoyed doing yard work.

Mrs. Ernst is survived by a daughter, Denise Sams (Christopher) of Avon Lake, and a son, Kevin Ernst (Barbara) of Manhattan, Illinois; a grandson, Kevin Ernst (Andrea); four sisters, Alecsandria J. Epperly of Waldorf, Maryland; Mary Ann Bogdan of Alexandria, Virginia; Violet Verdea of Rocky River and Beverly Gasper of Alexandria, Virginia; two brothers, Wesley Bogdan of Phoenix, Arizona, and George Bogdan of Worthington, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn; a son, Gary Ernst; two brothers, Cornell and Rocky Bogdan and her parents, Wesley and Mary Bogdan (nee Serbu).

Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon-Belden Rd. Avon Lake on Monday from 7-9 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home Tuesday July 13, at 11 a.m. Fr. Robert Franco, pastor of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Sheffield Village, will officiate. Internment will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township, where V.F.W. Post #1079, Elyria will conduct military honors.
