Richard Carl Plumb, 58, Loved spending time with his grandchildren
Richard Carl Plumb, 58 years of age, and a lifelong resident of Lorain passed away Sunday, July 11, 2004 at Community Health Partners, Lorain following a sudden illness.He was born August 16, 1945, in Lorain where he was raised and had lived for his entire life.
Richard graduated from Admiral King High School in the class of 1963, and from Oberlin Business College. He served in the U.S. Army. He worked for Charter One Bank, Cleveland for twenty years retiring in 2000 as Assistant Vice President of Collections. He also previously worked for Beneficial Finance in Vermilion and Elyria for 6 years and City Loan in Sheffield for 4 years.
He was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter, Lorain. He was the treasurer for Amherst Athletic Association, and was past Vice President and Treasurer of the Knights of St. John. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, Amherst Eagles, the Lorain Elks, he was currently an assistant little league coach for the Amherst Storm baseball team for which his grandson plays. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Briffa (nee Lange) Plumb; his sons and daughter in laws, Richard K. and Michelle Plumb of Wooster and Daniel C. and Sandy Plumb of Blacklick, OH, 4 grandchildren, Cole, Julia, Maffhew and Jansen Plumb; his mother, Virginia (nee Rango) Plumb of Lorain; and his sister, Adele Ondrejech of North Olmsted;. He was preceded in death by his father Victor L. Plumb in 1989 and his grandparents.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Fr. Ken Wolnowski, pastor of the Catholic Church of St. Peter, Lorain will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township, OH.
