Quinten L. Urig, 75, Faithful fan of the Professional Cleveland sports teams
Quinten Tinny Kenny L. Urig, 75, of Avon Lake, formerly of Avon, passed away, Monday July 12, 2004, at his home following complications of several illnesses.Mr. Urig was born August 16, 1928 in Avon and has lived in Avon Lake since 1953.
Mr. Urig was a 1946 graduate of Avon Lake High School. He had worked for Miller’s Country Place in Avon fro 40 seasons as a waiter from 1942 to 1982. He also worked in the employee benefits department at East Ohio Gas, Cleveland for 43 years, retiring in 1992.
Mr. Urig was a member of St. Joseph Church, Avon Lake. He was a member of Aqua Marine Health Club and the EMH Center for Health and Fitness, Avon. He enjoyed riding his bike and walking his dog in the neighborhood. He was a faithful fan of both the Avon Lake Shoremen and the Professional Cleveland sports teams.
Mr. Urig is survived by his wife, Pearl R. (nee Homer), whom he married, January 29, 1949. Other survivors include; daughters: Diane Marie Urig of Summerville, South Carolina and Vivian Therese Urig Welch (Jeffery) of Hilton Head, South Carolina; sons: Dale Louis Urig (Martha) of Mansfield, Daryl John Urig (Patricia) of Cincinnati, and Byron Thomas Urig (Mary Ellen) of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; a great granddaughter and sisters: Joan Dreistadt of Rocky River, and Mary McGuire of Rocky River.
He was preceded in death by brothers: Alton, Donald, Regis, Elwyn, and Raymond, and also by his parents: Leo Joseph and Agnes Margaret (nee Schwartz) Urig.
Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home {(440) 933-3202}, 163 Avon-Belden Rd., Avon Lake, Thursday, July 15 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Prayer service at the funeral home, Friday, July 16 at 10:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church, 32929 Lake Rd., Avon Lake at 11 a.m. Fr. Timothy J. O’Connor of the Church will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Avon.
