Russ. J. Manternach, 60, Enjoyed boating, fishing, and antiquing
Russ J. Manternach, 60, of Avon Lake, formerly of Iowa City, Iowa, passed away, Monday, July 12, 2004 following a lengthy illness.Mr. Manternach was born March 21, 1944 in Iowa City and had lived in Avon Lake for the past 35 years.
Mr. Manternach worked fro American Greetings, Cleveland for 32 years holding a variety of positions. He retired in 1998. He was a graduate of Upper Iowa University as a Botany Major, where he attended on a football scholarship. He was an avid reader and auto racing and football fan. HE enjoyed fishing, boating, antiquing, and trips to various casinos. He loved his three Yorkshire terriers.
Mr. Manternach is survived by his wife of 37 years, Wendy J. (nee Jones). He is also survived by two sons: Brian Manternach of Boulder Creek, California and Greg Manternach (Sara) of Avon Lake. Other survivors include his mother Jeanne Manternach (nee Tallman) of Iowa City, a grandson Stephen and a brother Mike Manternach of Davenport, Iowa.
He is preceded in death by his father Ray Manternach.
Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon-Belden Rd., Avon Lake, Friday, July 16 from 2-4 and 7-8:30 p.m. A funeral service will be at the funeral home Friday at 8:30 p.m. Cremation by the Busch Cemetery. Interment will be at a later date.
