Chester William Streicher, 91, Member of St. Paul Lutheran Church
Chester William Chet Streicher, 91 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at Community Health Partners, Lorain following a four week illness.He was born September 26, 1912, in Oberlin where he was raised and graduated from High School. He had lived in Amherst more than 50 years.
Chet served in the U.S. Army stateside during World War II.
He worked as an auto mechanic fro J. B. Oil in Oberlin fro several years. He worked at the U.S. Postal service in Amherst, retiring as a carrier after 15 years.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Amherst where he was active in the building of the church, the men’s group and chairman of congregation. He was very active in serving his family, the congregation, and his Lord.
Survivors include his sons, Larry A. Streicher of Westlake and Randy W. Streicher of Brecksville; and 5 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Norma (nee Beesing) Streicher died July 12, 1987; his brother, Donald Streicher and his sister, Ora Bliss and his parents, William and Minnie (nee Nabakowski) Streicher.
Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church; 115 Central Dr., Amherst. Rev. Gary Bernath, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
