Ted M. Scislowski, 71, Enjoyed traveling and observing the weather
Ted M. Scislowski, age 71, of Lorain, died Monday, July 19, 2004 at his home after a lengthy illness.He was born September 19, 1932 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Mr. Scislowski was a graduate of Lorain High School and then served with the US Air Force in the early 1950’s as a weather observer and was stationed in Alaska and the Aleutian Islands. After his military service he attended Oberlin School of Commerce where he studied business.
Mr. Scislowski worked as a salesman for Lorain House Lumber for 25 years, Wickes Lumber for 2 years and then Amherst Lumber before retiring in 1994.
He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lorain. He enjoyed photography, painting, playing cards, playing with his grandchildren, traveling, and watching the weather.
Ted is survived by his wife on 46 years: Sylvia (nee Salek), daughters: Linda Bradley of Lorain, Michelle Crnobrnja of Amherst, and Amy Baughman of Lorain; son: Thomas Scislowski of Lorain; 7 grandchildren; sisters: Jean Chopcinski of Lorain and Theresa Kalo of Mentor; and brother: Joe Scislowski of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Steve and Anna (nee Sobolewski) Scislowski; sisters: Louise Thurton and Ann Emerich; and by brothers: Andy, Steve, Benny and Frank Scislowski; and 3 siblings in infancy.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel; 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by a 12 p.m. funeral mass at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 2702 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Kevin Shemuga, pastor, and the Rev. William Schill, deacon, will concelebrate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
