James A. ''Jim'' Binder, 62, Enjoyed collecting antiques

James A. "Jim" Binder, age 62, of Sheffield Lake, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at his home following a lengthy illness.

He was born March 24, 1942 in Lorain and had lived in Sheffield Lake for the past 28 years, coming from Avon Lake.

Mr. Binder was a graduate of Avon Lake High School and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960-1964, stationed in Alaska. He was employed as a Central Office Technician for Ameritech before retiring ten years ago. Jim enjoyed collecting antiques and civil war memorabilia, traveling to casinos, and his family.

James is survived by his wife of 38 years: Emily (nee Sojka); two sons: James (Tracy) of Sheffield Lake; and Timothy (Loretta) of Elyria; a daughter: Wendy Deidrick (Dan) of Berlin Heights; six grandchildren; and 2 step-grandchildren; two brothers: Jack of New Jersey, and Bob of Arizona; and a sister: Barbara Forsyth of Washington State.

He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Vera (nee Churpek) Binder.

Friends may call the Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon-Belden Road from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday. Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, July 24 at 11 a.m. Rev. Dr. Charles A. Peal of Lake Shore United Methodist Church will officiate. Inurnment will take place at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
