Joyce E. Grizzell, 68, Accomplished poetry writer
Joyce E. Grizzell (nee Brown), 68 years of age and a resident of Vermilion, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at Grace Hospital Center, Amherst following a brief illness.She was born June 4, 1936, in Lorain where she was raised and graduated from Lorain High School in 1954. She has lived in Vermilion for the past 22 years.
Joyce was a housewife and mother. She enjoyed gardening, antiques, crafts and quilting. She also enjoyed writing short stories and was an accomplished poetry writer. Traveling was a favorite.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years: James F. Grizzell; her daughters: Joan Grizzell of Oberlin, Janet Nemeth of South Amherst, Sandra Nagy of Lorain, Tina Giglioffi of Amherst, and Judith Collins of Kipton; her son: Keith Grizzell of Vermilion; 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; her brothers: Richard Brown of Wakeman, Frank "Bud" Brown of Amherst and James Brown of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Richard and Agnes (nee Burk) Brown and her sister, Irene Brown.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst where funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Brownhelm Cemetery in Brownhelm, OH.
