Arlis Julian Harris, 75, Enjoyed fishing, walking, and gardening tomatoes
Arlis Julian Harris, 75, of Sheffield Lake died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph following a lengthy illness.
Born on February 25, 1929 in Cedar Grove, WV, Arlis was retired from US Steel where he worked as a metallurgist. He was a life member of VFW Post 8686 of Sheffield Lake. He served in the Army during the Korean War and later served in the Navy. While serving his country he earned a Bronze Star. He enjoyed his grandchildren, fishing, walking, gardening tomatoes, and fellowship with friends.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years Helen (nee Gerken); children Julie Katherine (Thomas) Frankeberger of Sheffield Lake, Michael Julian (Paula) Harris of Parma, Mark David Harris of Elyria, and Alisue (Mike) Weber of Sheffield Lake; sister Jean Jones of Charleston, WV and 7 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son Arlis Julian Harris; parents Paul Ernest and Havana (nee Smith) Harris; sisters Hope Ealey, Kay George Harris and granddaughter Faith Arianna Weber.
Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Wyers Funeral Chapel, 2900 North Ridge Rd, Elyria where a funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 am. The Reverend Edward Young of Lorain Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Cemetery, Amherst where military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 8686 of Sheffield Lake.
