Jackie R. Yommer, 72, Enjoyed fishing, hunting, and the outdoors,

Jackie R. Yommer, age 72, of Sheffield Lake, passed away Friday July 23, 2004 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center, Lorain following a short illness.

He was born October 9, 1931 in Jennings, Maryland and moved to Sheffield Lake in 1961.

He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and received the Korean Service medal with five bronze stars. Jackie was employed at the General Motors Parma Plant and retired in 1989 after 30 years of service. He was a member of AMVETS Post #55, Sheffield Lake, V.F.W. Post #8686, Sheffield Lake and the American Legion in Grantsville, Maryland. Jackie enjoyed fishing, hunting, the outdoors, and gardening.

Mr. Yommer is survived by his wife of 45 years, Emily A. (nee Stanton); two daughters, Jackie A. Hathaway (Brian) and Julie Houchins (Ronald), both of Sheffield Lake; two sons, Jamie A. Yommer (Barb) of Sheffield Lake, and Jody A. Yommer of Lakewood; four grandchildren; four brothers, Joe Yommer of Olney, Maryland; Harry Yommer of Kansas City, Missouri, Richard Yommer of Jennings, Maryland, Hubert Yommer of Ambridge Pennsylvania, and Willard Yommer of Lewisville, Ohio; and two sisters, Norma Ruth Quail of Rome, New York, and Wanda Gross of Pawpaw, West Virginia.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Homer, Oney and David Yommer; a sister Helen Stefani; and his parents, Bruce O. and Jessie (nee Warnick) Yommer.

Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon Lake from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2004. Services will be held at the funeral home Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at 11 a.m. Rev. Jim Gordon, pastor of Elyria Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, where V.F.W. Post #9871, North Ridgeville will conduct military honors.
