Frederick W. Fichtel, 95, Enjoyed baseball, bowling and yard work
Frederick W. Fichtel, age 95, of Vermilion, died Sunday, July 25, 2004 in New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph.
He was born on July 5, 1909 in Vermilion and has been a lifelong resident.
He was a self-employed farmer, a member of the Farm Bureau as well as the First United Methodist Church in South Amherst He enjoyed baseball, bowling and yard work.
He is survived by his sons, William and Gene Fichtel, both of Vermilion; sister, Lydia Fichtel of Lakewood; and 7 grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Patricia in 1994, brothers, Ken, Carl, Ernie, Earl and Henry Fichtel and sister, Katherine Fichtel.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, where services will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m.. The Reverend Gary Lundsford, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of South Amherst, will officiate. Interment will follow in Peaks Cemetery, Berlin Township.
