Barbara A. Tremaine, 57, Enjoyed crocheting, watching movies, and family functions
Barbara A. Tremaine, age 57, of Lorain, died Wednesday July 28, 2004 in the intensive care unit of EMH Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.She was born in Brownsville, Pennsylvania on September 11, 1946 and had been a resident of Lorain since 1950.
Barbara was a 1964 graduate of Lorain Admiral King High School. She began an extensive secretarial and administrative career serving as secretary to former Lorain Mayor Woodrow C. Matlina. She moved on to an administrative post in the accounting department of United States Steel Corporation's Lorain-Cuyahoga Works. She later joined the Sheffield/Sheffield Lake School District and for the past fifteen years she has served as executive secretary for the Superintendent of the Westlake City Schools.
She was an active member of the congregation at the Amherst Congregational United Church of Christ where she also sang in the church choir. Her hobbies included crocheting, watching movies, and enjoying family functions.
Mrs. Tremaine is survived by her husband of twenty-seven years: Ian "Dale" Tremaine; a son: Brian Tremaine of Lorain; two grandchildren; a step-daughter: Laura Devaque of Lorain, a sister: Katherine Dent of Garfield Heights, and by brothers: Gary Kayatin of Oberlin, and the Reverend Louis F. Kayatin of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her father: Laos Granus, by her mother: Helen (Nagy) Kayatin, and by her step-father: Louis Kayatin.
Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel ~ 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel. The Reverend Anila Szemesi, pastor of the Amherst Congregational United Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park - Amherst Township.
