Merle V. Jr. Hunker, 65, Enjoyed gardening, old cars, and animals

Merle V. Hunker, Jr., age 65, of Oberlin, died on Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center West, following a lengthy illness.

He was born on June 11, 1939 in Lorain, Ohio. He has resided for the past 30 years in Oberlin, prior to this he lived in Amherst and Clarksville, Ohio.

He was employed as a truck driver for the Schwebel’s Bread Company, where he worked over 20 years.

He enjoyed gardening, old cars, animals, especially raising chickens and rabbits.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years: Peggy (nee Cantu), daughters: Ruth Johnson, of Elyria, Marie Farmer, of Perry, Charlene Baird, of Greenwich and Pamela Hunker, of Lorain, sons: Vernon, of Spencer, Michael, of Republic, and Timothy Hunker, of Wellington, brother: Kenneth Hall of Gainsville, Florida, and sisters: Carol Allison, of Pontiac, MI, Linda Knautz, of Sheffield Lake, Sandra Clark, of Sheffield Lake, Dawn Meyers, of Vermilion and Bonnie Clark of Gainsville, FL., 19 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father: Merle V. Hunker, Sr., mother: Alberta Shay, brother: Larry Hunker, and stepmother: Vivian Hunker.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 1, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where services will be held on Monday, August 2, 2004 at 9:30 a.m. Rev. Rick Chapman, pastor of The Church of the Open Door, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township, Ohio.
