Elizabeth H. Wright, 93, Enjoyed outdoor photography and playing classical music
Elizabeth H. Wright, 93, died Saturday, July 31, 2004 at Kendal at Oberlin, where she had lived the last 11 years.She was born December 22, 1910 in Quaker City, Ohio. Her parents moved to Cambridge Ohio while she was a child.
She was a graduate of Cambridge High School and received her undergraduate degree from Muskingum College, Cambridge, her Masters in Languages from Middlebury College, Vermont, and the Sorbonne in Paris.
Miss Wright was a teacher in the classroom for 41 years, beginning her career in Wintersville, Ohio, moved to Alliance High School, and in the early 1972 accepted a position at Lorain High School, where she stayed until she retired. She enjoyed her students in English, French, and Spanish Classes and challenged those in Speech Classes and Debate. The Debate Teams received outstanding recognition from the state competitions.
Her hobbies consisted of training dogs for obedience trails, outdoor photography, and playing classical music. She played the violin in the Lorain County Symphony Orchestra during its existence.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Lorain, The Lorain Branch of the American Association of University Women, Lorain Sorosis, LEA, OEA, NEA, the Lorain County Kennel Club, and the Elyria Camera Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents C.G. and May (nee Benedum) Wright.
A memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. in the Auditorium of Kendal Retirement Center at Oberlin. The Rev. Richter of the First Congregational Church will officiate.
Burial will be in the Quaker City Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church, Lorain, or the Animal Protective League. Arrangements by the Busch Funeral Home, Avon Lake.
