Eleanor Marie Kelly, 83, Enjoyed being with her family
Eleanor Marie Kelly (nee Betts), age 83, of Avon Lake, died Monday, August 9, 2004 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Avon, following a lengthy illness.Mrs. Kelly was born November 20, 1920 in Cleveland and was a resident of Avon Lake since moving from Westlake in 1960.
She had been employed at the Electric Cord Set Company, Bay Village. She worked in food preparation at the Aquamarine Resort and Restaurant in Avon Lake. She retired from Community Health Partners in 1980 where she and been employed as a Dietary Technician. In retirement, she worked as a cook for the rectory at St. Joseph Parish, Avon Lake.
Eleanor was a member of St. Joseph Church, the Church’s Avilas, the Altar and Rosary Society, and was a Eucharistic Minister. She was a member of the St. Vincent De Paul Society. She was also a member of the Third Order of St. Francis at St. Anthony’s in Lorain. She had lived at Beachpark Tower, Avon Lake, and was a member of the Towerettes, a group of seniors that would visit nursing homes and senior centers, where they would sing and perform skits. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, music, and being with her family.
Survivors include her daughter: Sheila Grattan of Amherst; sons: Timothy Kelly (Barbara) of Macomb, MI, Patrick Kelly of North Olmsted, Daniel Kelly, and Thomas ‘’Salty’’ Kelly (Peggy ‘’Elmer’’) of Avon Lake; sister: Minerve Sherwin of Houston, TX; and 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Peter Kelly; parents: Earl and Fanny (nee Kortesniemi); and sisters: Olive Barnes and Merle Krawec.
Friends may call the Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon-Belden Road, Avon Lake, on Wednesday, August 12, 2004 at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church, 32929 Lake Rd., Avon Lake at 11 a.m. Fr. Norman Riley, former pastor, St. Joseph Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Avon.
