Sophie Halabuk, 101, Active in Slovak Fraternal organizations
Sophie Halabuk (nee Ganobich), age 101, died Monday, August 9, 2004 at Amherst Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness.Mrs. Halabuk was born January 23, 1903 in Lorain and had been a life-long resident of Lorain County.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain and was extremely active in Slovak Fraternal organizations affiliated with the parish in her earlier days.
Survivors include five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Stephen in 1985, by daughters Eleanor Sedivy in 2002 and Bernice Maxwell in 2003, by her parents: Antonues and Maria (nee Lukacik) Ganobick, by a brother: Steven, and by sisters: Rose Millek and Teresa Esser.
Please join her family for the celebration of a funeral mass at 10 a.m. on Saturday August 14, 2004 in Holy Trinity Catholic Church-Reverend Lawrence Martello, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst will preside. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery-Lorain.
