Charles Emmet Bean, 72, U.S. Navy Veteran
Charles Emmet Bean, 72 years of age, and a resident of Oberlin passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at his home following a lengthy illness.He was born February 23, 1932 in Cardington, Ohio where he was raised. He has made his home in Oberlin for the past thirty-four years.
Charles served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict aboard the U.S.S. Roanoke. He was employed by the Ford Motor Company, Lorain Assembly Plant for thirty-two years, retiring in 1996 from the Quality Control Department. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed farming.
Mr. Bean was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oberlin where he served as Eucharistic Minister.
Survivors include wife of fifty years: Dolores Isabel (nee Baumgardner); his sons: Timothy of Graham, Washington, Christopher and Francis, both of Oberlin; daughters: Mary Louise Brown of Elyria, Connie Ho of Cleveland and Karen Bean, of Northfield, Ohio; seventeen grandchildren, six great grandchildren; and brothers Harold Bean of Crestline, Ohio and Paul Bean of Cardington, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by three infant children; his parents: Barton Albert and Bernice Mae Bean (nee Harding); his brother: Albert F. Bean; his sister Olive Feffer and a sister in infancy.
Friends may call Thursday from 5 - 8 p.m. at the family home, 11534 State Route 58, Oberlin, and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 410 West Lorain St., Oberlin, Ohio where funeral services will follow at 10:30. The Rev. Fr. James J. Reymann of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Wellington, will officiate.
