Joseph R. Bevaque, 85, Served with the US Army during World War II
Joseph R. Bevaque, age 85, of Lorain, died Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at Community Health Partners Hospital in Lorain after a short illness.He was born May 16, 1919 in Pottsville, Pennsylvania and had resided in Lorain for the past 60 years.
Mr. Bavaque served with the US Army during World War II in the ski patrol troop in Lake Placid, New York.
Joseph worked at the Ford Assembly Plant in Lorain for 30 years as a tow motor operator, retiring in 1984. Afterward, he worked at Mason’s Shoes as a salesman then at Smith’s Car Wash in Lorain. He enjoyed photography.
He is survived by his sons: Joseph of Vermilion, and William and Louis of Lorain; daughters: Catherine Singer of Lemon Grove, California, Mary Bevaque of Westlake, Jane Martell of Lorain, and Lisa Higginbotham of Amherst; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister: Helen Fontaine.
The family will receive friends Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel ~ 3224 Broadway Avenue ~ Lorain where funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. The Reverend Edward Luca, pastor emeritus of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Sheffield Village will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where the Disabled Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter #20 will conduct military honors.
