Ann J. Emling, 91, Children's Librarian

Ann J. Emling (nee Linnenkohl), 91, of Westlake, and formerly of North Ridgeville, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2004 at Rae Ann Suburban Health Care Center following a brief lengthy illness.

Mrs. Emling was born November 20, 1912 in New York City and had lived in Lakewood, Avon Lake, Mesa, Arizona from 1973, and the North Ridge Apartments, North Ridgeville from 1993.

Ann graduated from Hunter College, New York, NY with a degree in Library Science. She had worked for the Cleveland Public Library as a Children’s Librarian for 10 years. She had attended St. Julie Billiard Church in North Ridgeville. While in Mesa, she was a volunteer with RSVP and a member of a writer’s club. She loved music and enjoyed swimming.

Mrs. Emling is survived by her son: Robert A. Emling of Rocky River; and daughters: Rosemary C. Emling of Fairview Park and Eileen Knoble (Bernie) of Avon. Other survivors include two grandchildren: Jenna and Brad.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years: Wilfred M. Emling; and her parents: Fred and Josephine (nee Pye) Linnenkohl.

Friends may call the Busch Funeral Home ~ 32000 Detroit Road, Avon ~ Monday, August 16, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A prayer service will be Tuesday, August 17 at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial, at St. Julie Billiard Church ~ 5500 Lear Nagle Rd., North Ridgeville ~ at 10 a.m. Fr. Richard Gonser of the church will officiate. Cremation by Busch Crematory. Interment private at Holy Cross Cemetery.
