Edna Mae Lanz, 90, Lifetime resident of Pennsylvania

Edna Mae Lanz, 90 years of age, and a resident of Amherst and formerly of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at Amherst Manor Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.

She was born May 20, 1914 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where she was raised and was a lifetime resident.

She was part owner of a dry-cleaning business and also worked for 38 years as a medical secretary for physicians in Pittsburgh. From 1979 to 1986 she managed the X-Ray Department of Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, retiring in 1986 at the age of 72. She was a member of the St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin Catholic Church in Pittsburgh.

Survivors include a niece, Evelyn Caffarel of Amherst.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Dr., Amherst, Ohio. Rev. Fr. Lawrence Martello, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate. A graveside service Conducted by Friar John R. Haney, pastor of St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin Catholic Church will be held in the Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania at 12 p.m., Friday, August 20, 2004.

Local arrangements are being handled by the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, OH 44001.
