William C. Seidel, 71, VP and General Manager of Airborne Manufacturing

He was born December 23, 1932 in Tipton, Kansas, and had lived in Vermilion the past 24 years moving from Elyria.
He was Chief Project Engineer for Cessna Aircraft Co., Wichita, Kansas. In 1967 he became Chief Engineer and Vice President-General Manager of American Aviation Corp., Cleveland. In 1972 he became Vice President and General Manager of Airborne Manufacturing (now Parker Hannifin), Elyria retiring in 1988.
He received his Ph.D. from Columbia-Pacific University, CA and undergraduate degrees in aeronautical engineering from TriState University in Angola IN. He was a member of Vermilion Rotary. He enjoyed boating, camping, collecting cars, traveling, model airplanes, and home remodeling.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Alice Anne Seidel (nee Patterson); sons, Mark Seidel of North Ridgeville, and Steven Seidel of Corpus Christi,, TX; daughters, Sandra Berner of Columbus, and, Krysann Dunbar of Napolean, Ontarior; stepsons, Richard Brown of Newmarket, Ontario, and Gregory Brown of Dallas, TX; stepson, James Brown of Fort Worth, TX and stepdaughter, Deborah Brown of Oakville; and 15 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ida (nee Sackoff) Seidel and 2 brothers, Dean Seidel and Darrel Seidel.
Friends may call Monday, August 23, 2004 from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 3747 Liberty Ave., Vermilion, Tuesday, August 24, 2004, at 11 a.m. The Reverend Terry Parker, pastor, will officiate.
