William F. ''Bill'' Ransom, 70, Enjoyed fishing, hunting, and bowling

William F. "Bill" Ransom, age 70, of Lorain, died Thursday, August 26, 2004 in Autumn Aegis Retirement Community, Lorain, following a year long illness.

Born on January 20, 1934 in Mammoth, West Virginia, Mr. Ransom moved to Lorain in 1958, coming from Mammoth, W.VA.

He had been employed for the former General Motor's Corporation in Elyria, for many years, and then in Mansfield, for 4 years, retiring in 1993. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and bowling. He was a member of U.A.W. Local Union #549 of Mansfield.

He is survived by his wife: Ann (nee Wooten) Ransom of 43 years; 2 sons: Charles W. Ransom and Jerry L. Ransom, both of Lorain; 1 daughter: Debbie S. Swartz of New London, OH; 12 grandchildren; 1 brother: Donald Ransom of Indiana; 3 sisters: Betty Ratliff of Indiana, Ethel Page of Cedar Grove, W.VA., and Ruby Ransom of Charleston, W.VA.; her aunt- Ida Mae Agee of Lorain; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles H. Ransom and Emojean (nee Anderson); 2 brothers: Charles J. and Jimmy A.; and a sister: Thelma Tolbert.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 29, 2004, from 4 until 8 p.m., in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where funeral services will be held on Monday, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. James D. Cavins of W.VA., and Rev. Edgar Neace, Flemings Ave. Freewill Baptist Church, Lorain, both officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
