Andrew Miskow, 85, Retired mechanic for the City of Lorain

Andrew Miskow, age 85, formerly of Lorain, died Sunday, August 29, 2004 in The Hospice of Cleveland Clinic at the Renaissance in Olmsted Township following a lengthy illness.

He was born September 29, 1918 in Lorain and was raised at his family farm in Wellington He was a Lorain resident for 50 years moving here in 1932. He had lived here until last June.

Mr. Miskow retired from the City of Lorain as a Mechanic in 1980. He worked there for 25 years. Prior to that, he was a welder/riveter building ships in Cleveland and New Jersey. He had also worked as a deck hand aboard Great Lakes Ore Carriers. He was an avid gardener, who enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting.

Among the survivors is his wife of 63 years: Mary (nee Kuben); his niece: Ruth Nagy of North Olmsted with whom he made his home; nephew Keith Bauer of Oberlin; and many other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Telka (nee Walnywitz), brothers Joseph, Sebastian, and John Miskow and a sister Stella Bauer.

Friends may call Wednesday 5 to 8 p.m. at the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, Ohio, where the Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church will pray the parish rosary.

Funeral Service will be Thursday 10 a.m. in the funeral home Reverend Paul Krajnik, Pastor of Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, Lorain will officiate.

Burial will follow in Camden Cemetery in Kipton Township.
