Myrlene Keener, 71, Housewife and Mother

Myrlene Keener (nee Greenleaf), 71 years of age, and a resident of Vermilion, passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2004 at her home following a sudden illness.

She was born October 13, 1932, in Gassaway, West Virginia where she was raised and lived until the age of 18 when she moved to Lorain. She has lived in Vermilion for twenty years.

Myrlene was a housewife and mother. She had worked for Kroger grocery store retiring in 1984 after 23 years as a cashier. Myrlene was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Amherst where she was a longtime Sunday School Teacher of the 2 and 3 year olds.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years: Marvin Edward Keener; her sons: Mark Keener of Lorain and Steven Keener of Parma; her daughters: Sandra Kay of Clearwater, Florida and Susan Clark of Avon Lake; 4 grandchildren; 2 great grandchild; her brothers: Charlie Greenleaf of Tucson, AZ, Roy Greenleaf of Burton, S.C., Harold “Shorty” Greenleaf of Gassaway, W.Va.; her sisters: Cleo Frame and Carol Frame of Atwater, OH, and Betty Ramsey of Wakeman, OH.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Everett and Grace (nee Stump) Greenleaf.

Friends may call Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-4 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., in Amherst where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. Rev. Michael Plog, Pastor of Faith Baptist Church, Amherst will officiate. Burial will be in Rugby Cemetery in Vermilion Township, OH.
