Bernice M. Greenwitt, 96, Avid world traveler

Photo of Bernice M. Greenwitt Bernice M. (nee Wagner) Greenwitt, 96, of Lorain, Ohio died Thursday, September 9, 2004 in Anchor Lodge Nursing Home following a brief illness.

Mrs. Greenwitt was born on November 26, 1907 in Lorain and was a life long resident.

She graduated from St. Mary High School. She had been employed by the former Spaid Insurance Agency then by the Spaid and Flegge Insurance Agency as the manager retiring in 1972 after 42 years service.

She was a member of St. Mary Church, A.A.R.P., and the Lorain Senior Citizens and volunteered at St. Mary for many years. She was an avid world wide traveler and enjoyed her bridge club.

She is survived by a step daughter: Betty Lute of Lorain; and a nephew and his wife, Dick and Diane Meck of Lorain, who were also her caregivers; and several other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Joseph Greenwitt in 1971; her parents: Peter and Mary (nee Thomas) Wagner; a brother: Dr. A. J. Wagner; and sisters: Lucy Kirchner, Marie Bowe, Sr. Magdala (Agnes) Wagner and Eunice Meck.

Friends may call on Monday, September 13, 2004 at the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th St., Lorain, Ohio 44052 from 11 a.m. until prayers at 12:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1 p.m. in St. Mary Church, corner of 8th and Reid, Lorain, Ohio with Rev. Daniel O. Divis, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain, Ohio.
